“What can you do?” is the expression of resignation with which the last of the Mohicans meet the approaching excavators, as well as the land's new western owners. As long as they are still able to farm the geese, which they then sell to buyers in and around Leipzig, and get the ramshackle harvester going again, there would appear to be hope. Even though there are now only three of them and they will surely soon have to meet their fate...
Director Tom Lemke, born-and-bred in Leipzig, spent a number of years alongside his protagonists, who evolved into comic figures akin to those of cult film NO MORE MR NICE GUY. This work of regional interest with its unusual soundtrack proved popular with audiences at last year's DOK Leipzig, where it was awarded a Golden Dove for Best German-Language Documentary. GL

Tom Lemke - born 1976 in Großenheim, Germany. After completing his studies he moved to Chile, where he shot his first documentary in 2007. Currently he works as a freelance filmmaker and author in Germany.
