In the words of director Roya Eshraghi Safaifard “the elderly peasant woman, the antiquated radio and my camera formed a triangle, from which the film emerged”. The filmmaker left her native Iran, together with her parents, for Costa Rica, later enrolling at the International Film and Television School in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Central character Lorenza lives in a “bohio”, a traditional wooden country home often found in the east of the country; her daily existence is captured with both a heightened sense of affection for the mundane, and remarkable attention to detail. In the process the viewer comes to an appreciation of the divergence between Lorenza's frugal yet sedate existence and the excited pronouncements of the radio. WMH
