She washes dishes, irons props for a theatre, works as housekeeper for a wealthy businessman and furthermore cares for her ailing grandmother. Nevertheless, Anna's eternally short of money. With no prospect of social benefits or support payments from her ex-husband for their autistic son Sandro, she decides to leave Georgia. With no one else to turn to, she trusts her savings to an expert in document forgery, who in turn would appear to have something to hide. Eventually forced to concede that she has little, if any hope of receiving a visa, Anna arrives at a fateful decision.
In this, the director's debut film, leading actress Ekaterine Demetradze gives a wonderfully executed one-woman performance; taken together with its realism, ANAS CKHOVREBA convincingly captures and visually contrasts the range of emotions the film's heroine goes through, from hopelessness, to a sense of guilt and hope.
