Distancing themselves from Romani traditions Aska and her husband would prefer a quiet life. Aska's mother Ilonka doggedly hangs on to her roots however, and works as a fortune-teller. Manusha finds herself caught in the middle; she loves her grandma, is bullied at school however due to her Romani roots. When Ilonka passes away strange things start to happen at home, almost as though a curse had been placed on the family. Manusha decides to take action, to which end she calls on her grandfather. Can he remove the curse? AB

Tomislav Žaja - born 1967 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. He holds a degree in documentary directing from FAMU, Prague. As of 1987 he has been directing a series of documentary films within the framework of the Croatian Television’s Documentary Programme, as well as those produced by his own production company Gral Film, which was established in 1995.
