Leni and Lazar, friends since childhood, are now in their early twenties. When Lazar returns from Germany to attend his father's funeral in the pair's erstwhile home village they click immediately, seamlessly resuming the somewhat infantile, non-conformist friendship of old, as they set off on a journey through the Serbian provinces in a celebration of freedom akin to a classic road movie. They crash a wedding party and lay waste to a market place; They encounter strange folk, end up with a ten-year-old in tow and all the while appear to be running away from themselves, reluctant to deal with the newly-emerging feelings they have for one another. A mutual, repressed sexual attraction puts an increasing strain on the hitherto carefree relations between the two.
Rapidly-staged using the CinemaScope format, the storyline is time and again given an ironic twist by the use of Schlager music and political songs from the sixties and seventies. Occasionally a narrator accompanies the film, satirising the predominant conservative world outlook of older generations. Mina Ðjukić's work is thus, at times, an anarchistic provocation against a chauvinistic society in transition, as well as against a younger generation which has a made a break from established modes of thinking but is yet to find itself.
