A husband speaks of his wife, who committed
suicide at the age of forty-two, as if he
was speaking of a problematic child.
She was the director's mother. Employing
both caution and, at times, a more pressing
approach Karin Jurschick looks to open
up old wounds in an attempt to fathom
the unfathomable. Her father's emotional
detachment and rigid ideals make rapprochement
as well as insight impossible.
A puzzle picture of an authoritarian and
paternalistic post-war marriage.
