Loyiso, a young black African, lives (or as
he prefers to say, survives) in a South
African township named Gugulethu. Valon,
a young Rom, lives in post-war Kosovo,
in Peja. Filmed over seven years, the documentary
simultaneously follows the lives of
these two youths, both striving for a better
future against the hurdles of poverty and
racist prejudice. Loyiso doggedly dedicates
himself to his studies so he can go to
university, Valon leaves Kosovo together
with a young American and today lives
in Washington.
