Trailer
Life in times of COVID. Four episodes full of dark humor dissect the isolation and pain of modern life. The pandemic both functions as a metaphor and a memorial for the hidden wounds of our society, which only came to light through the experiences of lockdown and masks. A young therapist welcomes her new patient. But instead of listening to her, she rates her mental suffering between 1 and 5. The list is more important than the suffering. Shortly afterwards, everyone in the family is online. Instead of living with each other, they talk on the phone and chat and hardly notice how the world passes them by. But suddenly a real disaster strikes and an almost hopeless battle begins. With MMXX, Cristi Puiu translate the collective trauma of the pandemic experience into cinema and gives us all the chance to pause. The experiences of that time are still in our bones, in our souls and in our minds.
