In the flat you find objects which epitomise
her whole life, from keepsakes and pictures
to statues of the Virgin Mary and far
Eastern deities. This highly personal work
accompanies an everyday life and reconstructs,
by means of flashbacks using private
photos and film archive material, the biography
of the Austrian-Romani artist Ceija
Stojka. It's the portrait of an unconventional
woman who embodies the long and at
times painful history of the Sinti and Roma
peoples. Ceija Stojka survived several Nazi
concentration camps, including Auschwitz-
Birkenau and Bergen Belsen. She passed
away on January 28th 2013.
