Employing a large element of wordplay independent
filmmaker Paul Cox takes a
closer look at televangelism and the issue
of self-belief in this satirical film. The television
evangelist Gloria celebrates one career
success after the other, regarding God
as her true companion. Alongside him little
space remains for husband Barry, who increasingly
years for earthly pleasures.
On finding the Russian prostitute and
atheist Irina his redemption would appear
close at hand. The Lord giveth and the Lord
taketh away, amen.
