While below demonstrators and police attack each other, Serep hides together with other youngsters in Ahmet's apartment. The latter is plagued by both a brain tumour and remorse: During his military service in eastern Turkey he killed a Kurdish boy. The scene haunts him to this day, as does the fatal argument between his parents. Worlds divide Ahmet's post-traumatic syndrome and Serep's life in the here and now. And the fate of an entire country, marked by military coups, a deep state, gentrification and the Kurdish question. Uluç Bayraktar's debut feature film inquires after the wounds of this collective experience and its effects on future generations. He skilfully holds the many threads of his story together with melodrama, a tried and tested stylistic device characteristic of commercial Turkish cinema which is also known to captivate its audiences with emotional pathos.
