A Polish mystery thriller that oscillates between mental torture and psychological study, isolating as it does an accomplished scientist and almost robbing her of her mind.

KOSMOS Production

Anna has just made a groundbreaking medical discovery when she is kidnapped. She wakes up in a tiled and clinic-like room that is equipped with all the essentials: a bed, toilet, sink, and shower. She is irritated when she hears noises, that is until she discovers a peep-hole in the wall, through which she can see her apartment, her partner and also friends who are worried about her. They don't hear all the hammering and shouting however. Instead, over time, conversations unfold that really get to her. And her kidnapper also yearns to dig deep into the depths of her psyche, demanding via loudspeaker that she remember.

Polish director and co-writer Michał Szcześniak presents here his second feature film, FISHEYE, which, in the absence of physical violence primarily deals with the inner workings of its protagonist. How does she deal with pressure, and with isolation? Ultimately however, it's a question of dealing with her own past, and with herself.
