Mariusz renovates fancy flats, whilst he himself lives in a relatively downtrodden area. On meeting a single mother he sees his chance to climb the social ladder. Sharing a flat together with his infirm mother in an impoverished area, Mariusz has only one wish: to start anew elsewhere. His preference would be to move to the modern residential area where he renovates flats to make ends meet. On meeting Agata he recognises the chance not only to fall in love, but also to have a shot at a better life. In order to impress her he comes up with the perfect identity; thus from the outset his version of social advancement is based on a fragile falsehood that cannot last and indeed it's not long before his new existence starts to crumble.
