Torn from the midst of life. Shortly before graduation 19-year-old Defne has to go home; her father has suffered a stroke. The family is wealthy yet emotionally cold. Previously suppressed secrets emerge from the dark corners of the spacious house. After the death of her aunt, Defne is faced by a choice: truth or freedom. A quiet, detached look into the depths of the better part of society.

On a hill on the picturesque coast of the Turkish Aegean Sea Defne finds herself cooped up between her father and aunt, both of whom are trapped in their decaying bodies. Her only aid comes in the form of illegal Georgian domestic worker Mari. Despite all the prosperity it is a coldness that predominates in the noble villa. From the confines of her well-protected existence what Defne yearns for is to test the extremes; so much so in fact that she conjures it up herself. Soon she has to decide whether to destroy her own life or that of the defenceless Mari. The camera glides calmly and with unmistakable precision through this formalistic portrait of a disintegrating family. Time and again light appears in the distance; move closer though it might in the course of the film, it nevertheless remains unattainable. In a razor-sharp manner Çağil Bocut dissects his homeland's well-to-do class: proceed cold-heartedly and rationally though they might, deep down, like all of us, they are in search of love.
