After Sasha and Danny are caught red-handed at a wild party and Sasha is ordered to study at home by her tyrannical stepfather, the policeman Victor, the two run away. From their native Yekaterinburg they head out into the wild, impenetrable forests of the east. While Victor does everything in his power to see Danny confined to a youth detention centre, the teenagers proceed to test the limits both of themselves and the wider world. Hubris is followed by intimacy, though the pair's earnest embrace is soon and most abruptly replaced by brute force. For a short time both live out their dreams of anger, love and rebellion, that is until they are faced with a rude awakening. Phenomenally performed and peppered with original picture compositions, this is a film that asks us whether we have been witness to the extremes of two excessively pubescent youngsters or a well-reasoned revolt against trying circumstances.
