After several years Frank returns from Israel to his home country Slovenia. The father has died, shoe production in the factory has come to a halt. The father deposited nine million Euros in an account in Switzerland, the origins thereof are uncertain however. Brother Brane, quite the capitalist, couldn't care less; he senses the next big investment. Frank, on the other hand, is an idealist and still dreams about socialist times. He wants to get to the bottom of the matter, an undertaking that doesn't fit in with Brane's plans. Not only does he resort to dishonest means, but also doesn't stop at violence. The dispute escalates; and pulls those around them into the abyss. The hostilities between the two are nothing new. Pevec speaks of political and personal trench warfare, waged here with no holds barred. On the one hand there are the Marxists, who dream of a just world yet have failed in reality, and on the other hand the capitalists, whose unscrupulousness Pevec openly criticises. NaF
