Greek Wuta pigeons gather over the roofs of Athens. The hobby ornithologist Christos marvels at the daring with which they prepare to swoop. A film that, in a mixture of poetry and protocol, tells of the pressures of a supposedly homogeneous society.

Christos works in a bakery on the outskirts of town. The teenager keeps various species of birds at home and dreams of a future as a professional aviculturist. He only receives encouragement from his best friend Panos, who is the target of hostility due to his Albanian roots. When Christos' father is released from prison, he wants to drive such nonsense from his son's head. In VOUTA Dimitris Zahos speaks of the courage to be different and think differently in a community devoid of equal opportunities. The recurring midnight blue of the imagery is not only gloomy but also full of aspiration and hope. KS
