It all starts with a car breakdown. Quickly however Viorel finds himself at the centre of Mocanu's election campaign, a man in urgent need of political immunity if he wants to stay out of prison. To win the hearts of voters Viorel is presented as a friend from the old days. In return, Mocanu privately promises him a new tractor. Away from the crowds, a male friendship develops between the two, a bond which Mocanu's young social media manager regularly disrupts in order to provide the politician's followers with reassuring images of unity. All the while the question arises as to what is real and what is manipulation? A tragicomic political farce from Romania, at the centre of which stands the loneliness of two men who couldn't be more unequal, staged with dry humour, splendid timing and wonderful actors. The art of this film lies in its laconic simplicity, as well as the dynamic imagery of Romanian camera virtuoso Oleg Mutu. JJ
