Adam and Wanda, an elderly couple, have already reached the higher stage of love where attention, affection and understanding give form to their everyday life. But happiness is often hanging by a thread. The progressive development of dementia in Wanda presents her husband with unexpected challenges. Adam becomes a full-time caregiver and his beloved wife a helpless object that needs support 24/7 as her personality disintegrates. Dressing, feeding, brushing her teeth, putting her on the toilet, wiping her clean, taking her for a walk, having fun, putting her to bed – day in day out and without trace of hope for improvement. A sensitive documentary about an illness that inspires us to think about being human – and a story of loyalty, dignity and the limits of being together. KM
