What's more important: leaving or staying? A question that is also repeatedly being posed in Poland which has lost more than two million emigrants – and especially young ones – in the past 15 years alone. In Stare Juchy, for example, a village in Masuria: a third of its inhabitants have since moved to Iceland. What do they still have in common with those who stayed behind?

Nowadays, it is possible at any time with the aid social media to communicate between Iceland and Stare Juchy. But can Skype and Co. really replace human intimacy, or are both sides now just living with projections? Taking this question literally, the film goes to those people still living in the small village, to the parents and grandparents. Projected onto house facades, the walls of rooms, meadows, garage doors, dining tables and dovecotes, the video messages from afar try to maintain something like intimacy and solidarity with those who stayed behind, but the emigrants appear in the digital family reunions like ghosts from the past. What remains is a longing – on both sides. KM
