An apartment building in Croatia, 1993.
Whilst cooking a man hears the Croatian
military break into a neighbouring flat
on the search for weapons. Through the
peephole he observes, almost in a state of
paralysis, how his wife returns home and
demands an explanation from the soldiers,
after which they depart. She in turn withdraws
to home and husband, before resolving
to inform the neighbours. During the
Croatian War of Independence the newlyformed
Croatian government drove away
more than 5,000 people, predominantly
