Maras is a car thief with nerves of steel, a heart of gold and ambitions to achieve greater things. Instead of stealing cars he'd much rather pursue legal ways of making money, all the more so since in his private life things are slowly getting more serious: he recently moved together with his girlfriend and has resolved to be a role model for his younger brother. Father figure “Tzar” also happens to be his boss however, and the vehicle trafficking business is currently going far too well for him to simply let go of his apprentice, and thus he continues along the same path. Their newest luxury Mercedes brings Tzar and Maras unforeseen problems however, as the valuable car contains an even more valuable shipment … SOUTH WIND broke all box-office records in Serbia: 700,000 viewers saw the film in the month after its release. Director Miloš Avramović narrates this star-studded gangster film at a fast pace, and yet the tale proves more multifaceted than one initially expects, quite possibly the result of Avramović knowing the hard reality of the Belgrade suburbs only too well from first-hand experience.
