When a child loses its parents and finds a feeling of security replaced by the sorrow of a children's home, his/her longing for love and warmth threaten to go unfulfilled forever. This longing often finds itself transformed into anger, rage, and self-destructive energies. We find ourselves in an orphanage for difficult young women, mostly girls. It's a world far removed from a sense of home, characterised as it is by permanent rebellion in which only the strongest survive. Abuse and bullying are everyday occurrences. Seventeen-year-old Ola, an ambitious and rather withdrawn youngster, is a runner and the sport teacher's great hope. She believes that her biological mother is waiting for her, somewhere, and this hope helps her to overcome her darkest days in this remarkable multi-protagonist film which introduces viewers to the emotional ups and downs of orphanage life, as well as the pressures, anger and longings felt by the young women without indulging in shallow shock tactics.
