Trailer
The down-on-his-luck musician Yiannis lives above a lingerie shop with the promising name of "No Borders" – a rather surreal joke in a city like Nicosia which is divided by a heavily guarded border. The so-called "Green Line" is controlled by Greek, Turkish and UN soldiers. Reluctantly, Yiannis has to pass this line to reach the Turkish half of the island. Jimi is soon found, but, according to an EU regulation, the dog is not allowed to go back to the Greek part. An adventurous and absurd mission begins with Greeks and Turks sharing a common destiny in order to bring the little four-legged friend back home.
Previously known in his capacity as a producer, the Cypriot Marios Piperides succeeds in his directorial debut in addressing a highly emotional topic with symbolic meaning. This is the first time that a Turkish settler has a name and a story in a Cypriot film – the kindhearted Hasan even helps Yiannis. Cinema is able to tear down walls, at least in people's minds. RH
