Years before, when Una wasn’t even born yet, a meteorite fell onto the grandfather’s house. Only he and his daughter always knew that one day ‘they’ would come to get him, the old inventor. Una and her two elder brothers know nothing of this secret and so events escalate on her eleventh birthday: her grandfather is abducted, and the emergency doctor comes for her mother. In the cellar, behind the laboratory, Una finds the small robot. It can speak all languages, steer a spaceship and tells her an unbelievable story: her grandfather is an alien! And only 24 hours remain to free him and save her mother’s life. Everything else ceases to matter now: the fact that Una is being bullied at school, that her brothers tease her, that her father, a pilot, is not there for her birthday. She and Dodo, as she calls the robot, embark on an adventurous journey across a wild river. Dodo has a horror of water and Una can’t even properly swim, but the two learn what friendship means. WMH
