Trailer
Edmund Janson’s colourful and hand painted animation début is based on Luize Pastore’s successful children's book “Dog Town”. Janson skilfully highlights the beauty and magic of the historical Maskachka suburb, which is so unlike the rest of the city: be it the sudden calm that after the underpass replaces the city noise, the wooden houses so typical of this suburb, the omnipresent group of pantomimes and, last but not least, the pack of talking dogs that guard the suburb.
At the heart of the film is a strong message: the importance of cooperation and solidarity and the necessity of protecting historically precious places from generic new buildings. JACOB, MIMMI AND THE TALKING DOGS praises the idealism of children, who, in contrast to some adults, have not yet learnt to be cynical and believe that they have the power to change things. AD
