Bucharest 2009. CCTV footage shows a man entering the building of the state security central archive. He files an application requesting the right to access his personal file; out of curiosity, since he finally wants to know who snitched on him when he requested the song Roxanne for his girlfriend on Radio Free Europe. Tavi is now in his late thirties and nevertheless still lives for the moment. He cooks for his girlfriend and takes care of his mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. The majority is spent with his old friend Cretu however; he's the only person Tavi can genuinely trust, when he learns from his file that the then love of his life Roxana was pregnant with his child. A terrible suspicion troubles Tavi: Is the now twenty-year-old son of his ex in fact his child? The notion soon becomes an obsession and he acts rashly, with grave consequences for everyone involved.

Employing disimpassioned, distinct imagery and assisted by a wonderful cast and screenplay ROXANNE narrates the levels of secrecy and mistrust that still exist twenty years after the so-called Romanian revolution. The film is a personal story generally applicable to a country in which a critical analysis of the recent past is only really beginning now. The film was produced by the production company of award-winning Romanian producer Ada Solomon (Pozitia copilului – Golden Bear at the Berlinale 2013; O LUNA IN THAILANDA – Participant FilmFestival Cottbus 2012).
