Trailer
The high school student Petr brings his girlfriend home for the first time and surprises his parents with the news that she is pregnant. The ensuing argument with his father, a miner, ends with Petr breaking from his parent’s wishes by leaving school and hiring a job at Dukla colliery like his father did. However, he does not suspect, what drudgery awaits him there. And he certainly doesn't know that the works director is more concerned about meeting targets than safety regulations …
With a great sense of atmosphere, the successful cinema director David Ondříček is authentically resurrecting a lost world in this by audience and critically acclaimed disaster movie. He not only shows tough guys with a soft core, their rituals and privileges, but he also shows daily anxiety and self-denial, obsession and courage. All of this is impressively conveyed by young actor Oskar Hes, when Petr, who he depicts, has his first experiences underground. CF
