DRÁGA BESÚGOTT BARÁTAIM

When the 60-year-old Ándor – a literary figure active in Hungary's cultural and ecological underground before 1989 – decides to request his files from the Hungarian State Security Agency, he faces a bitter discovery. János, a very close friend and comrade-in-arms, denounced him for years. He seeks contact with János, who, however, withdraws. He suffers from cancer and lives in bitter loneliness. What to do now with his injury and anger? Should Ándor make the betrayal public? Is revenge necessary? Yes, Ándor is hurt, he wants to hear the word that János cannot pronounce – sorry. Then the avalanche breaks out with his article in the newspaper. János gets anonymous calls, the television wants an interview. He was not "blown out", he had been freed from the lie. He had been blackmailed into betrayal – who is forcing the betrayed to strike back? There is probably no solution. Only the pile of broken fragments remains, to which a friendship was broken up. KF
