In the far west of the Ukraine lies the Transcarpathian Oblast. In the past 100 years, the area once belonged to Hungary, sometimes to Czechoslovakia, long to the Soviet Union and since 1991 to the Ukraine. The region is home to a wide range of population groups, most of which are minorities. Tisa 1, a station in Uzhgorod, the capital of the region, produces programs in Romani, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Ruthenian, Slovak and even German. But in addition to the coexistence of cultures, the short documentary also reveals problems, for example, that lack of fluency in Ukrainian can lead to difficulties on the labour market. NaF
