Tulip's life is simple yet rich in treasures: two sons, a daughter, a granddaughter, and a lush garden. But life gets out of hand with the political eruptions of 2014 in the Ukraine. Abruptly, the tide of history and politics turns against him and his family. The puppet animated film brought the audience to tears at the film festival in Odessa: it traces the disruption of the Ukraine in the example of a man who long tried to displace politics and nationalism in favour of the illusion of a perfect world. A universal story, because these issues aren’t only present in the societies of Eastern Europe. WK
