The families have been living together for decades. In the evenings, they meet in the large courtyard, and drink and eat together. The good and the bad are shared here. The children are the best of friends. But the lucrative offer of the investors to buy up the entire property changes the situation. Suddenly, there are disputes about who owns which balcony since the proportional payment depends on the respective area of each house. However, Gia does not want to sell at all. He demands twice as much. The whole deal would then be off. Consequently, he and his family are put under pressure and ostracised.
Holding the camera close to his protagonist, Gigisha Abashidze presents a microcosm of society in transition after decades of stagnation. He shows in exemplary fashion on a small scale how capital can influence people and advance individualization. MM
