His father Datiko is in a wheelchair, his mother emigrated to Greece to earn money there as a singer. His brother Shota has a modest job on a fishing boat. When the owner decides to sell it, the brothers buy the boat as a way of securing their income. They take out a mortgage on the house to raise some cash, and a friend gives them the rest of the money they need. However, the latter has other plans with the boat and gets the two involved in the sordid businesses of some criminal backers.
Levan Tutberidze delivers a compelling and complex story which succeeds in portraying a Georgian society whose members do everything they can to make their lives as good as possible despite adverse circumstances. MM

Levan Tutberidze - born in 1959 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Director. After graduating as a director from the Shota Rustaveli University for Theatre and Film in Tbilisi, where he has also been a lecturer since 2009, he initially worked as an actor for several years. He is the founder of the first Georgian independent film studio - AISI - and co-founder of Amirani Cinema in Tbilisi.
