After such a serious beginning, one expects a profound essay on the subject of faith. Instead, we experience a couple in the car. He is a materialist and wheelchair bound, she is a romantic and a patient wife. Quickly, the question of faith is overshadowed by the usual happenings of a marriage while driving – except that she steers the vehicle and he only plays with the controls, often making mistakes. This road movie lives from the squabbling love of the two protagonists and renounces any showmanship. At the end of the journey, they look at a deserted mountain landscape that is just as remote as the question about the meaning of life and God. KM
