Yeva is forced to flee Yerevan with her daughter Nareh. She would have to stand trial there because she allegedly killed her husband. But the villagers recognize her from the days of war when she had cared for the wounded as a doctor at the front.

Constant being on the run has already become the norm for Yeva and her daughter. She initially finds a safe refuge on the edge of the war zone between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The village community, which is suffering from the consequences of the war, gives a warm welcome the unknown mother and child. But their curiosity grows, and people start believing that they have seen Yeva in the village before. When the boy next door steps on a mine, she has to reveal her true identity as a doctor.

Anahid Abad, a director of Armenian descent living in Tehran, portrays a particularly strong female character in YEVA, someone who seeks her independence on the brink of war and, in spite of the harsh hand of fate, does not lose heart and is endowed with an admirable sense of empathy. IB
