The monotony of everyday life begins each morning with the alarm clock ringing and then continues in the school and gym. Saidulllas' strictly ordered life gets into middle because of the serious diagnosis. However, he resigns himself to fate and even sees it as a last chance to make up for old mistakes and omissions.
Rashid Malikov creates a dramatic narrative against the backdrop of the Uzbek steppe, a landscape that suggests an important milestone in Saidulla's last journey. The son, who forbids him to have any contact with his grandson, remains adamant about his decision. Neither Captain Abishev, who fought with him in Afghanistan, nor the widow of his dead comrade live far away from him. He sets off now with his only faithful friend, the dog Rembo, at his side. But isn't the desire for revenge just as false a promise as consolation that comes too late? IB
