ENCOUNTER
During a burglary, the two thieves come across a dead man. How should they deal with the situation? Instead of taking a run for it, they pay respect to the deceased by practising typical death rites of the Roma: the mirror is taken down, the dead man is dressed in his best suit, his hair is brushed, a gold ring is put on his finger and money is put in his jacket pocket. It is only then that they leave the apartment. Atmospherically skilfully staged images leave room for the viewer's own interpretations of this FAMU production which dispenses with any dialogue and is able to transport the viewer back in time with the aid of the VHS format.
