In 1990, the year of transformation, the Communist party tried to spruce up its image and save socialism in its own country. When a delegation of EU deputies visits the country, one of the guests is eager to meet an old fellow student. But he is in prison for political reasons. The car breaks down when the "professor" is supposed to be taken from the camp in a remote mountain village to the capital Tirana. Power struggles ensue between the dissident who provokes his opponents, the party secretary who fears for his career, the militiaman who would actually like to answer every objection with a swing of his cudgel, and the good-natured driver: who will survive the upcoming political changes, who must now already make sure that they hide their past, with whom do you have to get on well in the future? Boasting impressive cinematography and an outstanding ensemble of actors, director Bujar Alimani’s third film sees him developing a sensitive and sarcastic chamber piece in open country, a metaphorical observation of the power struggles within a small group whose members are looking anxiously into the future for various reasons. The script was written by the director Artan Minarolli who died three years ago. WMH
