Trailer
In times of moral and political crisis, cinema likes to resort to allegorical forms – as a look back at the post-thaw period will show. The young director Ivan I. Tverdovskiy is no exception, even though his film style has an extremely realistic touch: After KLASS KORREKCIY | CORRECTIONS CLASS (FFC 2014) and ZOOLOGIYA | ZOOLOGY (FFC 2016), his third feature-length film JUMPMAN also wanders along the divide between handheld camera directness and a higher, sociocritical level – to end up in the middle of an insanely corrupt society.
While physical handicaps and sexual abnormality had also been the subjects of his previous films, teenage hero Denis is socially marked from the outset – as an outcast, a pariah. In the orphanage, he is subjected to being wrapped tightly in rubber hose. However, when he is taken off by his "sexy mum" to the big, big city, he soon realizes that something isn't quite right with the sudden luxury of his existence. He is and remains: someone just thrown (away). BW
