Without parental supervision, unimaginable freedom opens up for the four friends. The childish exuberance meets the "wind of change" in politics: The signs are on change, in the village, hopes, but also uncertainty spreads. Paula is convinced that if Latvia regains its independence, it will benefit everyone. So, she follows the call for a demonstration for the detachment of the Baltic States from the Soviet Union, the so-called "Baltic way". Intelligently edited, Madara Dišlere's feature film debut mixes coming-of-age, girl friendship, summer movie and political dawn. The historical background is the summer of 1989, when Latvians, Lithuanians and Estonians joined together to form a more than 600-kilometer-long human chain to demonstrate for their freedom. AD
