WOZU DENN ÜBER DIESE LEUTE EINEN FILM?

WHY MAKE A FILM ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE THEM?

Thomas Heise
GDR, 1980, 33 Min
Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen "Konrad Wolf"

The title anticipates the criticism: are these petty criminals from the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg really worthy of having a film made about them? The director answers with an assured YES as he observes, portrays, but doesn't judge. The film was subsequently banned.
