In the style of cinema verité, without the use of any instruction or further outside comment, this film describes the lives of two youths on a workshop courtyard. An early example of the director's special talent for finding a suitable yet unconventional form for his subject-matter.

Ulrich Weiß - born 1942 in Wernigerode, Germany. Completed a photographer's apprenticeship in 1963. From 1968 to 1970 he studied cinematography and directing at the HFF and from 1971 to 1991 worked as a director at the DEFA. Afterwards taught at the HFF.
