Self-experiment of a film-maker: the Brazilian granddaughter of exiled Hungarian Jews attempts to obtain Hungarian citizenship. An auspicious beginning at the Hungarian embassy in Paris swiftly develops into a bureaucratic odyssey through modern Atlantic history. Discussions with parents and grandparents as well as the officials of various registration offices and consulates throw light on the widespread anti-Semitism of nineteen-thirties Hungary and Brazil and the traces thereof in the present day.
