Shortly before the end of the Second World War the German Armed Forces stationed a regiment of Georgian soldiers on the occupied Dutch island of Texel, where they mark the beginning of a revolt. Ineke Smits tells this almost forgotten war episode from the perspective of seventeen-year-old Marie, who comes of age in the midst of the chaotic events portrayed. A love affair torn between collaboration and resistance, Calvinist earnestness and Georgian zest for life. A passionate, yet tragic look at a lust for life in difficult times.
