1981. In France the Socialists under François Mitterand have been voted into government. In the Soviet Union Sergey Grigoriev, a high-ranking KGB analyst disillusioned with the real existing socialism of his homeland, decides to pass on important state secrets to Paris. The role of middleman is fulfilled by a French engineer who reluctantly becomes increasingly involved in the affair to the extent that he forms an almost jovial relationship with the brawny secret service agent. A film about an unlikely spy-duo based on the events surrounding the former KGB spy Vladimir Vetrov.
