THE NOOSE
A disturbing story about twenty four hours in the life of Kuba (Gustaw Holoubek) – an alcoholic who resolves for the last time to quit drinking. Kuba is at home, waiting for his fiancée, who is supposed to take him to a doctor in the afternoon. There, he is left alone with his weakness – his irresistible compulsion to get drunk. Suspended for a couple of hours in the peculiar state of waiting for his fiancée, hope for a change and an atmosphere of overwhelming memories, he wanders through the city, attempting not to drink. Kuba surrenders to his addiction again.

Wojciech Jerzy Has - born 1925 in Krakow, died 2000 in Łódź, Poland. Studied film and painting. Has' films are regarded as classics of Polish cinema, the influence of which can still be felt at the Film School Łódź today.
