SCHASTYE MOYE
MY JOY

This German-Ukrainian-Dutch production is regarded as one of last year's outstanding Russian-language films. The subject-matter is the brutality of the Russian police, the savage customs of the province and an unconventional view on the two world wars. As such it's no surprise that the film generated no small amount of criticism, even being denounced as anti-Russian by certain circles.
A provocative film typical of a generation of post-Soviet filmmakers.
