LEDNIKOVIY PERIOD

ICE AGE

Russia, 2009, 14 Min
Andrey Gryazev

A personable nerd, familiar to experts on Russian cinema from the cult movie PYL', is the last of the Mohicans in a beautiful yet run-down old building, today a handyman's playground fitted out with a highly unusual refrigeration system. Rainwater is transformed into a dance floor, reality into dream. It's worth mentioning that director Gryazev was in fact once a figure skater, thus explaining not only his particular affinity for atmospheric, filmic narratives, but also for the material itself: ice.
