Ruudi lives with his mother on a fishing island in Estonia. He is obsessed with the ancient Vikings who once inhabited the island. One day a reconstructed Viking ship puts up at the harbour, and invites boys to join the ship as passengers as long as they are accompanied by their fathers. Ruudi happens to be fatherless, and therefore quickly organizes a dads’ competition promising the winner not only a family but a treasure besides. One bid comes from Enn in distant New Zealand. But a couple of others are more dubious...
A charming combination of an island’s bizarre everyday life and Ruudi’s fantasy world.
