Martin moves with his parents to the provincial town of Bellbach. From the first day onward he finds it easier to make enemies than new friends. To make things worse, his baseball cap emblazoned with the word “Champion” earns him the nickname of Silly Cap. Things start to look better after Martin meets Silke, but then he finds out she’s going out with Oliver, of all people, Martin’s worst enemy. Johannes Schmid’s film adaptation of his brother’s novel recounts the authentic tale of a 12-year-old boy’s quest for security, friendship and his own identity.
